Islam: a Danger to Israel and Jews

INTRODUCTION

The Scriptures show that the Jews are the apple of God’s eye, being precious and dear unto him. To be injurious unto them is to stir the LORD’S anger, for he takes personally any harm done to them. Islam is hostile toward Israel and the Jews, seeking to overtake the holy land and bring God’s people into submission, as this article shows.

WAR

The book of Exodus says, “Thou shalt not kill.” The book of Matthew says, “Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment.”

The Qurʾān says, “fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is all for Allah.” Hence, the Islamic war against Israel and the Jews will never stop, because the Jews’ religion is not for Allah.

The founder of Islam, who is the fountainhead thereof, is reported to have said, “Judgment Day will not come until you fight the Jews and kill them. The Jews will hide behind stones and trees, and the stones and trees will call, Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him — except for the Gharqad tree, which is the tree of the Jews.” It is believed that Allah will one day give rocks and trees power to speak so that nature itself might deliver Jews into the hands of Muslims to be killed.

THREATS

To grasp the seriousness of the Islamic threat against Israel and Jews worldwide, consider the following declarations made against them by Muslim leaders.

Yasser Arafat, a powerful Muslim leader and chairman of the Palestinian Liberation Organization from 1969 until his death in 2004, said in 1974, “The goal of our struggle is the end of Israel, and there can be no compromises or mediators.” He further stated, “We don’t want peace, we want victory. Peace for us means Israel’s destruction and nothing else.”

Nasrallah, a senior leader of Hezbollah, said in 1997, “if we search the entire globe for a more cowardly, lowly, weak, and frail individual in his spirit, mind, ideology, and religion, we will never find anyone like the Jew – and I am not saying the Israeli: we have to know the enemy we are fighting.” He also said that Jews are “the enemies” of Allah.

Mahmoud al-Zahhar, a Palestinian Foreign Minister, said in 2006, “Israel is a vile entity that has been planted in our soil, and has no historical, religious or cultural legitimacy. We cannot normalize our relations with this entity.”

Muhammad Hussein Ya’qoub, an Egyptian Islamic scholar and cleric, said during a 2009 speech in Egypt, “If the Jews left Palestine to us, would we start loving them? Of course not. We will never love them. Absolutely not.” He further said, “It is Allah who said that they are infidels. Your belief regarding the Jews should be, first, that they are infidels, and second, that they are enemies.” He also stated, “We must believe that our fighting with the Jews is eternal, and it will not end until the final battle.” The Egyptian cleric also said during his speech, “As for you Jews — the curse of Allah upon you.” His words echo those of Ibn Kathir, a 14th-century Muslim scholar who said of the Jews, “may Allah’s continued curses descend on them until the Day of Resurrection.” Muhammad Hussein Ya’qoub also said in 2009, “The Jews are our enemies. Allah will annihilate them at our hands. This is something we know for certain.”

Ahmad Bahr, a top Hamas official, prayed amongst other Muslims in 2012, “Oh Allah, destroy the Jews and their supporters. Oh Allah, destroy the Americans and their supporters. Oh Allah, count them one by one, and kill them all, without leaving a single one.”

Atallah Abu Al-Subh, former Hamas minister of culture, said during a 2011 sermon, “The Jews are the most despicable and contemptible nation to crawl upon the face of the Earth, because they have displayed hostility to Allah.”

An unnamed Imam speaking at a 2014 Hamas sermon from the Gaza Strip said, “Our doctrine in fighting you (the Jews) is that we will totally exterminate you. We will not leave a single one of you alive, because you are alien usurpers of the land and eternal mercenaries. You are the mercenaries of all times.”

In 2017 Iran unveiled a large digital clock that counts down the days to the promised annihilation of Israel. Located in the capital and economic hub of Iran, the clock is colored blue and white to mimic the Israeli flag, with a Star of David in the middle being struck by a rising fist. Two phrases are written on the clock: “[these many days] Left before destruction of Israel” and “The zionist regime will not survive the next 25 years.” Both phrases are written in Arabic, Farsi, and English.

Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader in Gaza, said of Jews in 2018, “from us here in Gaza, they will never get anything but guns, fire. They will never get anything but martyrdom. They will never get anything but death and killing.”

Fathi Hammad, a senior Hamas political leader in the Gaza Strip, said in May 2019, “We have come to tell the Zionist enemy—including its people, its army, its government, and the Israeli Parliament—leave us, for the day of your slaughter, extermination, and annihilation is near.” He said in July 2019, “There are seven million Palestinians abroad, enough of your warming up. You have Jews everywhere. We must attack every Jew on the planet — slaughter and kill, Allah willing.”

Fathi Hammad, senior Hamas official, said in 2021, “People of Jerusalem, we want you to cut off the heads of the Jews with knives. With your hand, cut their artery from here,” pointing to the right side of his neck.

Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader in Gaza, said in 2021, “We support the eradication of Israel through armed jihad and struggle. This is our doctrine.”

Hamad Al-Regeb, a Hamas official, said during a 2023 sermon in Gaza, “Oh Allah, bring annihilation upon the Jews. Oh Allah, bring annihilation upon the Jews. Paralyze them, destroy their entity, tear them apart, bring upon them a terrible punishment. Oh Allah, enable us to get to the necks of the Jews.”

Adnan Abyat, an imam, said in August 2024, “You mock the prophet. He was poisoned by the Jews … may Allah curse them.” The prophet refers to Muhammad, who was killed by a Jew according to Islamic tradition. In addition, the imam prayed that Allah would “act with cruelty against” the Jews, Zionists, Christians, and those who aid them.

Salim Al-Zre’i, a Fatah Revolutionary Council member, said in 2025, “The Israelis will not achieve security or peace as long as Palestine is occupied.”

A SPIKE IN GLOBAL ANTISEMITISM

Global antisemitism spiked when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th, 2023. Here are statistics from the Anti-Defamation League.

Poland: in 2023, antisemitic incidents increased by 91%.

USA: from October 7th, 2023 to September 24th, 2024, there was an increase of more than 200% in antisemitic incidents compared to the same period a year earlier.

Netherlands: in 2023, antisemitic incidents increased by 245%.

Germany: from October 7th, 2023 to December 31st, 2023, antisemitic incidents were up 350%, compared to the same period in 2022.

Austria: antisemitic incidents increased 500% from October 7th, 2023 to December 31st, compared to the same period in 2022; the full-year of 2023 saw a 60% increase in antisemitic incidents.

Argentina: January 2024 saw a 600% increase in antisemitic incidents versus January 2023.

South Africa: during the last three months of 2023, antisemitic incidents were up 631%, compared to the same period in 2022.

Australia: during the last three months of 2023, antisemitic incidents were up 738%, compared to the same period in 2022.

Brazil: there was a 961% increase in antisemitic incidents during the month of October 2023, in comparison to 2022.

France: antisemitic incidents rose 1,000% in the three months after October 7th, 2023, more than the number of incidents for the prior three years combined.

Denmark: in 2023, there was a 1,244% increase in antisemitic incidents compared to 2022.

United Kingdom: 4,103 anti-Jewish hate incidents were recorded across the UK in 2023, the largest-ever total recorded in the country up to that point.

In late 2023 and throughout 2024, worldwide demonstrations featured chants including “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”—a call for Israel’s destruction—and “Khaybar Khaybar, oh Jew, the army of Muhammad will return,” referencing the slaughter of Jews in the 7th century.

While antisemitism has always existed, the global surge following the 2023 Hamas attack cannot be overlooked, nor can the subsequent rise in hostility toward Israel be ignored.

CONCLUSION

Not all followers of Islam are dangerous or violent; some are peaceful and want to live a calm life. However, those who are hostile toward Israel and Jews cannot be overlooked, and ’tis certain that Islam is fundamentally adversarial to God’s people.

The Islamic threat against the Jews is a religious, territorial, and spiritual matter: religious, because Islam is adversarial toward the Jews; territorial, because Muslims believe that the land of Israel belongs to them; spiritual, because Satan hates the Jews and seeks to destroy them by any means possible, including by the hands of men and false religions.
